Giuseppe’s Ristorante in Bend is Closing

Posted on 29 November 2010 by Kryste Adams

Giuseppe’s Ristorante in Bend is closing after 25 years. While I don’t like being the barer of bad news, hopefully this will give you a chance to try their food one last time Tuesday night Nov. 30th.  This bit of news arrived in my inbox from Giuseppe’s this afternoon:

Hello To All,    It is with bittersweet emotions that I am sending off the news of Giuseppe’s closing its doors after 25 years.  They do say that all good things come to an end, and Giuseppe’s time has come.  Tomorrow night, Nov. 30th, will be the last evening of Sambuca Prawns, Chicken Venetian, Mannicotti, Lasagna, Osso Buco, Scampi Classico,  and all the entrees we have prepared over the decades.  I am sorry for the short notice, but that is how some transactions go.  If you have the evening free,  we would love to see you.  The new owners will be opening their doors of “Bond St. Bar and Grill” on Tuesday, Dec.7th.  They plan on having a “Giuseppe’s Classics” section on the new menu.  I also think the familiar faces of Nancy and Hydie will also be a part of the new scene.  I want to extend a very heartfelt “Thank you so very much” for all the years of your patronage to my humble establishment.  Its been a great run and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you all.  Happy Holidays!  Peggy

Thanks Giuseppe’s for 25 years of delicious food.

Common Table a New Restaurant to Feed ALL is Open in Downtown Bend

Posted on 10 November 2010 by Kryste Adams

Grand Opening Common Table

Common Table is a new restaurant in Downtown Bend Oregon. It ‘s a collaborative effort spearheaded by Bob Pearson and Zach Hancock who are looking to do no more than “change the world,” stated Bob Pearson.  Common Table celebrated their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony this Tuesday, November 10th with a packed house.  It’s clear when listening to Bob and Zach that they, along with their many volunteers, are very passionate about Common Table and its goal to feed everyone in Bend.

Healthy Sustainable Food at Common TableCommon Table is a non-profit restaurant created to “feed all people”. Staffed by volunteers, Common Table’s profits go towards a token program.  The tokens have a dollar amount and are given to Family Access Network, Neighbor Impact, Bethlehem Inn, Saving Grace, Habitat for Humanity and the Latino Community Center.  People can then use these tokens to purchase a healthy, hearty meal at Common Table. Additionally, patrons can purchase tokens to give to any families in need of a good meal. While Common Table does have a full service bar, alcoholic beverages may not be purchased with tokens.

If you haven’t tried the food at Common Table, now is the time.  Matt Mulder formerly of Blue Fish Bistro is the current consulting Chef and has put together a delicious menu of high quality, nutritious food and reasonable prices. According the Bob Pearson, Common Table has made an effort to source locally and ethically for their food including meats, vegetables and cheeses.Downtown Bend Restaurant - Common Table

If you’re looking for a relaxed atmosphere, passionate people and a way to give back to our community, give Common Table a try.  They’re open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Common Table is located on Oregon Ave. in the space formally occupied by Cork. Keep up with what’s new at Common Table  – Like their Facebook Page or Follow them on Twitter.
